A Public Servant. An Entrepreneur. A Community Advocate. A Woman of Faith.

My name is Tina Brown, and I am running for Pinole City Council because serving others is not just something I do; it is the posture of my heart.

My life has not been without adversity. I was abandoned when I was only three days old. As a child, I experienced homelessness on the streets of San Francisco, sometimes sleeping in doorways and not knowing where my next meal would come from. I became pregnant at 13, a mother at 14, and was raising four children by the age of 20.

As a young, single mother, I had to learn how to survive while caring for my children and trying to create a better future for our family. I understand what it feels like to be judged by your circumstances, overlooked by systems, and treated as though your life has less value. I also know what it means to keep going when the odds are against you.

Those experiences didn't destroy me; they shaped me. They gave me compassion for single mothers, unhoused individuals, seniors, families living paycheck to paycheck, people returning home from incarceration, and women rebuilding their lives after trauma, domestic violence, mental health challenges, or substance-use disorders.

I have experienced the devastating effects that addiction can have on a marriage, a family, and an entire community. Because of that, I do not look at people struggling with substance use as problems to be removed. I see human beings who need accountability, treatment, opportunity, and a community willing to believe that recovery is possible.

I served the City and County of San Francisco. For about 15 of those years, my work focused on helping people experiencing homelessness connect with benefits, services, and opportunities to rebuild their lives. 

I am also an entrepreneur and the founder of My Sister’s Keeper, an organization created to empower women through mental wellness, financial education, personal development, and pathways to economic prosperity. Through workshops, community partnerships, and financial wellness programs, I work to give women the information and tools to build healthier, more financially secure lives.

Entrepreneurship has taught me how to take an idea, build relationships, manage resources, solve problems, and turn vision into action. I will bring these skills to the Pinole City Council as we address the city’s budget, infrastructure, housing needs, public safety, small-business growth, and quality of life.

After losing my husband in 2023, I moved to Pinole to live with my daughter and two granddaughters. I arrived during one of the most painful seasons of my life, but God used this community as part of my healing and new beginning. I did not come to Pinole simply looking for a place to live. I came with a heart ready to serve, grow, and contribute.

Wherever I land, my goal is to help that community grow and make a meaningful difference. I have always been drawn to communities and people who have been treated as though they are “less than.” I believe every person deserves dignity, every neighborhood deserves investment, and every family deserves the opportunity to thrive.

✔️ Economic development that benefits the entire Pinole community

I am not running because I have lived a perfect life. I am running because I have lived a real life, a life marked by adversity, faith, perseverance, leadership, entrepreneurship, and service.

I know how it feels to need help. I also know the power of being given an opportunity. I will bring that understanding to City Hall, listen to our residents' voices, ask the difficult questions, and work collaboratively to create practical solutions.

My story is proof that where you begin does not have to determine where you finish. I believe God allowed me to survive what I have experienced so that I could serve others with compassion, wisdom, and courage.
